Energy & IoT

Energy and IoT

CampDESK Pro supports consumption-based billing of electricity and water as well as connecting IoT devices for automated data capture.

Recording Meter Readings

Manual Recording

Meter readings are typically recorded at check-in and check-out:

  1. Open the guest's booking
  2. Enter the current meter reading
  3. The system calculates consumption automatically

Intermediate Readings

For season campers or long-stay guests you can take intermediate readings:

  • Monthly reading for interim billing
  • View historical consumption values
  • Track consumption trends per pitch

Consumption Billing

Billing is based on the recorded meter readings:

ParameterConfiguration
Electricity pricePrice per kWh (net)
Water pricePrice per mยณ (net)
Base feeOptional flat rate per day
Tax rateAssociated VAT rate
RoundingTo full cents or kWh
Check-out stores the calculated consumption and the total amount (totalDue) on the booking. Consumption costs are currently not carried over as invoice items automatically; create the invoice separately afterwards.

Consumption per Pitch

In the pitch overview you see:

  • Current meter reading
  • Consumption of the current guest
  • Average consumption per day
  • Historical consumption of the last 12 months
  • Anomalies (unusually high consumption)

IoT Connection (Beta)

CampDESK Pro offers an interface for automatic capture of meter readings via IoT devices.

Supported Protocols

  • MQTT for communication with meters and sensors
  • Automatic assignment of readings to the respective pitch

Possible Use Cases

  • Automatic electricity meter reading
  • Water meters with remote reading
  • Barrier control
  • Temperature monitoring in rental accommodation

Setup

The IoT connection is currently in beta. For setup please contact our support team, who will assist you with the configuration.

Energy Report

In the reporting module you find a dedicated energy report:

  • Total consumption per period
  • Consumption per zone or category
  • Comparison with the previous period
  • Revenue from energy sales

Tips for Recording Consumption

  • Always record meter readings in the presence of the guest
  • Photograph the meter reading if there are discrepancies
  • Regularly check the plausibility of the values
  • Use the anomaly alert for unusual consumption
